"Uggghhhh!" Sam rolled out of bed, plodded down to the bathroom and splashed his face with warm water. As he dried his face, he peered in the mirror and saw he had three little hairs sticking up from the back of his head. "Oh my god" Sam whispered. He ran to the closet, grabbed the gel, glopped some on his head and flattened it down like a pancake. Sam looked in the mirror, and next thing he knew, gel flew all over the mirror and the little three hairs were sticking up again, straight as an arrow.

After he cleaned up the mirror, Sam grabbed his comb and thoroughly brushed his hair. After that was done, Sam walked over to the mirror and next thing he knew, the three little hairs were sticking up again, straight as an arrow. "So," Sam grumbled "Going to play hard are you?" realizing Sam was talking to his hair, he stopped the conversation not waiting for a reply from his nonliving hair. Sam was thinking of a different approach to keep his hair down when he got a new idea.
Sam grabbed the scissors out of the medicine cabinet and pulled up the little hairs. SNIP, SNIP, SNIPPY, SNIP! Sam watched as the three little hairs floated down to the intricately tiled floor. He looked into the mirror and the next thing he knew, three new little hairs were sticking up, straight as an arrow. "There is no winning with you?" Sam thought angrily. He threw down the scissors and stormed out of the bathroom.
Sam bolted into his room, grabbed his Yankees hat he got from his aunt in New York and put it on his head. "Why didn't I think of this before?" Sam mumbled to himself. He proudly walked down the stairs, and into the kitchen.
"Sam, guess where I'm taking you today?" asked Sam's Dad.
"Where?" Sam wonderingly replied to his Dad.
"The Red Sox game!"
Sam and his Dad climbed into the car, and drove into Boston. When they got to Fenway, Sam and his Dad bought a hotdog and walked into the stadium. After they were seated, the game started. David "Big Poppy" Ortiz was up to bat, but he struck out. All of a sudden, the crowd started booing and chanting for Sam to take his hat off. Sam slowly lifted his hat off his head and the crowd ceased their chanting.
Sam wondered why the crowd wasn't laughing. Sam asked his Dad if the three little hairs were sticking up and Sam's Dad confirmed it. Sam turned his attention back to the game but was startled when the peanut guy came running over. "Here, take this." The peanut guy tossed a little bottle to Sam. "It's peanut oil, for your hair."
"Thanks." Sam shouted over the crowd. Sam put the stuff in his hair and sure enough, the peanut oil worked. Sam enjoyed the rest of the game without the three little hairs sticking up as straight as an arrow.

Have you ever been driving down the road and seen reckless driving? Things like that happen everyday. People do dangerous things that also endanger others. People need to concentrate more on the road while driving. I think that to avoid reckless and dangerous drivers, every two years the elderly should have a driving test, the penalty for drunk driving should be more severe, and people shouldn't talk or text while driving.
Every two years, the elderly should take a driving test. According to www.helpguid.org, "driver safety is an important and often sensitive issue for senior citizens. The changes of normal aging can sometimes interfere with the ability to drive." To make the road safer for elderly citizens and other citizens, elderly citizens should take a driving test every two years.
Drunk driving is a big issue on the road and it's also very serious. The website www2.potsdam.edu says "driving while either intoxicated or drunk is dangerous and drivers with high blood alcohol content or concentration are at greatly increased risk of car accidents, highway injuries and vehicular deaths." Each year, more and more accidents are caused by drunk drivers. The penalty for drunk driving should be raised to avoid more drunk drivers.
Texting while driving is also another very serious issue on the road. According to Boston.com, "19 states plus Washington DC have already banned texting while driving." More states are ready to ban texting while driving to make the roads safer. Texting while driving distracts drivers from the road. Cops should take more notice to catch more people while texting driving.
Elderly citizens, drunk driving and texting while driving are all hazards on the road. These are all common hazards that should try to be avoided. We need stronger laws to inforce no texting while driving or driving while drunk. At 70 years old, you should get a mandatory two year driving test. I hope by reading this article, you will follow the rules of the road and encourage others to do so to prevent accidents from happening on the road.
