First Day of School

First Day of School
October 1, 2009
By Sam

"Sam, Sam, time to get up." My blankets got lifted off of my exhausted body and I heard the soft footsteps of my dad as he left the room. I reluctantly turned over and looked at my calendar. "UGH!" I groaned, it was the first day of school! I grumpily rolled out of bed, but as I did my little sis came in and wailed, "GET UP, IT'S TIME TO GET READY!" She startled me and with a bone-rattling thud, I smacked the ground, of course she was satisfied and ran out of the room. I got up, straightened out my shirt and thought to myself, "it's gonna be a long day."

I groaned and moaned as I got dressed and hauled myself out into the kitchen. The sweet smell of French toast and omelets sailed through the threshold and up my nostrils. I grabbed some toast and a fork, some syrup and dragged my feet as I inched closer to the table. I lowered myself down to the table and drizzled syrup all over my French toast. As I ate, I tossed the thought around in my head about going back to bed, but decided not to.

After breakfast, I went and brushed my teeth and plodded to the front door, down the stairs and out to school. When I got there, I saw everyone from last year and Mrs. Sees smiling face. She explained some rules and where things were. We mostly colored all day and then we went home. When I got outside, everything seemed the exact opposite of that morning. I could tell it was going to be a great school year with old friends and the BEST teacher!
